Battle of Ballihow
Battle of Ballihow (Ballinahassard/Ballinasare)
When the Spanish-Irish alliance was defeated at Kinsale, the Knight of Kerry withdrew to his estates in the Dingle peninsula. He was pursued by Sir Charles Wilmot`s forces and defeated in battle at `Ballihow`, identified as present-day Ballinasare near Minard Castle. The castle was taken by English forces.
