In Ardea Castle, overlooking Kenmare Bay, William FitzGerald, Knight of Kerry, and other local nobles such as John FitzGerald, Florence `Lixnavoe` [of Lixnaw ? possibly a member of Lord Kerry`s family], John O`Connor Kerry, Donal O`Sullivan More, Thomas FitzGerald, Cornelius O`Driscoll and Walter Burke, appealed to Philip III of Spain for urgent help and reinforcements.
